My Holiday Make-Up

I am just back from my holidays in Portugal and had an amazing time. I apologise for the delay in replying to comments and general lack of interaction. As of today I am back normal.
Anyway I flew with only hand luggage! This meant I could only bring a maximum of 10kg and 100mls on the plane. I felt this entire task should be documented as for me this was nearly an impossible task.
This is what I ending up bringing and to my surprise it was more than enough.

Origins Vitazing
I normally use this every day underneath my make up but on holiday I used it by itself to give myself a tiny bit of coverage at the pool. It also contains Spf 15 which was a bonus.

Rimmel Wake Me Up
This is currently my favourite foundation and I used it every evening. The only thing was that I should have brought a shade darker with me as after a few days in the sun this colour was way too light on me.

Bourjois Bronzer
I just used this to darken up my foundation. I didn't bother with contouring on holidays which is very unlike me.

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Medium
This product was a godsend for keeping my makeup in place on the hot summer evenings. I just dusted a tiny amount over my foundation.

Mac Powder Blush Well Dressed
I am actually ashamed to admit I did not use this blush once. I could have easily just taken one!

Mac Blush Creme Lilicent
I wore this blush every evening. It was perfect formulation for holidays as my skin was drier from all the sun and it was nice to have a cream blush rather than applying powder.

Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme Rose Gold
This was the ideal holiday product as it looked lovely in the evenings after having spend the day in the sun. It gives a beautiful healthy glow to your skin.

Naked 2 Palette
My friend took Naked 1 so we both shared the palettes and we definitely had more than enough colours to work with.

Chanel Crayon Kohol Eye Liner Black
I dont have much to say about this product as it is the same one I use regularly at home and an all-time favourite of mine. I just use it on my waterline and find it never budges.

Max Factor False Lash Effect
This is just the mascara I am currently working my way through. I am enjoying it and definitely think I will repurchase it. It was my birthday whist I was away and one of my presents was the Dior mascara primer (review to follow) and that combined with the Max Factor mascara gave me amazing lashes!

Mac Cremesheen Lipstick Creme Cup
This is another product I did not reach for once! I don't think I was feeling the baby pinks whilst I was away. Before I went away I had seen Kim Kardashian wearing the most beautiful pink lip and cheek combo. This was what inspired me to bring all the pale pink products.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 54 Boy
This is my lipstick staple and I wear it constantly. It is my lips but better colour so I tend not to wear much else.

Mac Cremesheen Glass Going Casual
This gloss was brought to match my Creme cup which I didn't wear so I also neglected this gloss on holidays. I didn't wear gloss at all which was strange because I would normally reach for gloss over lipstick.

Maybelline Popsticks Crystal Pink
I used this as my lip balm and applied whilst I was beside the pool. It was lovely and moisturising and also gave a lovely tint to the lips. I have reviewed it here.

Do you struggle deciding what makeup to bring on holidays? Id love to know your holiday essentials. Let me know in the comments below.

My Current Skin Care Routine

For years I have struggled with my skincare routine as I have skin as dry as a cornflake but I still manage to get craters of spots, not just little pimples them awful underground spots that take well over a week to heal. I had tried numerous cleaners and exfoliates that just made my skin irritated and even flakier.
About two years ago I came across Lush Ultra Bland and decided to give it a try and I have not looked back. This is holy grail status for me.

It is a balm substance that is very heavy. You just apply it to your face and wipe it off with damp cotton wool. I do this twice, only the second time I use my Clarasonic along with the Ultra Bland and then wipe it off. Now the reason I love this product and a reason why some girls will detest it is the fact after you wipe it off it leaves an oily residue on your skin and my skin adores this! Because of this I only use this cleanser at night time but it really heals and moisturises my skin overnight. I don't even apply a separate moisturiser after cleansing at night.

In the morning I simply get a cotton pad and spritz it with Lush Eau Roma Water and wipe it all over my face and then I apply my Oilatum. I tend to keep my routine simple in the morning as if I cleanse my skin to much it can get irritated.

When I get the dreaded crater spots I either apply iodine to them or pop a tiny amount of Brevoxyl on them and hope for the best.

Share The Love

I read so many amazing blogs on a daily basis I thought I might as well share with you guys a few of my favourites.

Ellie's blog is always the blog I check for new posts. Firstly Ellie is the most lovely friendly girl who will always reply to you on twitter. I love her style, she currently has a post with wet look legging that has sold them for me. I think I am going to pop in Primark today and pick up a pair. She does posts on pretty much everything from health and beauty to personal posts. I love that she does a bit of everything and I always enjoy every single post.

I  love Laura's blog as she doesn't take herself seriously, she will quite happily post a picture of herself making a funny face! She does a really good post each week featuring every outfit she was worn through out the week which I think is a lovely idea and shows amazing dedication. Her reviews are also really well written, contain beautiful swatches and loads of information.

I am always recommending Holly from Bit of Bobbi, Bit of Chanel as I feel she should have way more followers. I adore the name of her blog but she also does amazing posts. She does posts on a bit of everything which I enjoy immensely. These include hauls, reviews and DIY posts. I am also jealous of her pictures as she always has amazing product pictures that I wish I could replicate!

DIY Professional Hair Dye

As you all know I have pretty dark hair and apparently bad genes as I have had grey hairs since I was about 18 and they have gradually gotten worse! Because my hair is so dark the greys hairs are quiet noticeable and I am very self conscious of them. I use to visit the hairdressers religiously every 6 weeks to get my hair coloured which worked out on average 50 per visit. On alternating visits I would get masking done (just covering the grey hair) and the next visit I would get full colour. I found this was getting very expensive as I am a college student and I currently saving to complete my masters next year so I decided to try to do it at home.

I am skeptical of box dyes as I have such thick hair I would end up using a couple of boxes and I do not want to damage my hair. I consulted a friend who is a hairdresser and she told me the professional products I needed which I bought in my local salon services. I have not looked back it is great. I colour my hair now every 4 weeks as by the 4th week my grey is very noticeable and it now costs me approx 5.00 every time I colour my hair.

This picture actually does my hair justice! In real life the grey is far more prominant.

What you will need:

L'Oreal Oxydant Creme 6% 20vol.

L'Oreal Majirel Hair Colour

The colour I use is 5,0 Deep Light Brown. I have also used 4.0 but found it a little too dark. I would advise to go lighter than you think as it is easier to make your hair darker if you think it has ended up too light rather than vice versa. I did not think I would be deep light brown my hair is nearly black.

A plastic bowl, measuring beaker, a brush for applying the colour and gloves.

Step 1:

Put half the tube of Majirel colour in a plastic bowl. It has to be mixed in a plastic bowl as a metal bowl will cause a reaction. I only use half a tube for my roots and find I still have colour left over. If you want to colour all your hair you could use the entire tube and just double the amount of oxydant I have used below.

Step 2:

Measure out 37.5ml of the L'Oreal Oxydant Creme 6% 20vol in a plastic measuring beaker

Step 3:

Simply pour the Oxydant creme into the Majirel.

Step 4:

Mix both products with your brush until they are thoroughly combined. Next you must leave the mixture to sit for 5mins for the peroxide to evaporate. Whist you are waiting you can prepare for the next step. I like to wear a top which I don't have remove over my head makes it easier when getting into the shower. I also get an old towel or sheet and place it over myself to avoid ruining any of my clothes. I rub Vaseline around my hairline and on my ears this prevent any dye getting onto my skin.

Step 5:

My dad is the best and he does this step for me. Section your hair with a comb and just paint the colour onto the roots working with small sections until your entire head is covered. I only cover the roots I never bring the colour through the length of my hair as I feel it would be very dark.

I leave the colour on for 40 minutes. Then I get straight into the shower and tip my over and run the water through my hair to remove the colour before applying shampoo. I tip my head over so the colour doesn't run down my body. Then I just give my hair to washes with shampoo and it is done.
(Don't worry it doesn't stain the shower)

I found this PowerPoint very helpful when I was first looking into dying my hair myself  - http://www.jpowerpoint.com/LOREAL-PROFESSIONNEL--PPT.html

Maybelline Color Sentational Popsticks

I was in Boots the other day and was drawn to the packaging of this Maybelline lipstick. The packaging alone had me sold! I picked it up not knowing much about it but also because Maybelline is currently on 3 for 2 in Boots.

I was originally a little shocked at the actual colour of the lipstick compared to the tube. They have some other shades available but this one swatched the nicest and appeared to be the most pigmented.

It is slightly deceiving to call this a lipstick because it is really just a glorified tinted lip balm. Having said that I love it! It has a delicious cherry scent and is moisturizing but doesn't last very long. As you can see in the picture the pigmentation is very slight. I have found you have to be careful applying it without a mirror as it goes outside your lip line but that may just be me! I much prefer lip balms in a tube rather than a pot as I feel they are more hygienic and easier to apply as you don't have to deal with sticky fingers. I do enjoy this lipstick but don't think I would purchase any more as the price is steep for what it is and I feel you could get a cheaper product to do the same job.

£100 Asos Challenge

Asos £100 Challenge

I have seen loads of bloggers do this challenge and it looked like fun so I decided to give it a whirl. Not only is it fun to complete but you are also in with a chance to win £100 Asos voucher. All the details are available on Discount Coder Blog if you wish to take part.

It was so difficult to pick one individual outfit as Asos have some absolutely gorgeous pieces at the moment. I based my outfit around the High Low Hem skirt. I. don't currently own one but definitely want to invest. I would tuck the white vest top into the skirt and pair it with the gold belt to cinch my waist. This outfit would be perfect for a summer night out and you could pair the skirt with numerous tops and shoes for different looks.

As you can see I spent the entire budget. I figured why not? I am genuinely surprised that I manage to create an entire outfit for £100 I only left out the underwear... come to think of it maybe I should have included that. You could definitely pick up one statement piece and pair it with basics you already have in your closet.

If you complete this challenge please leave me your link as I love to see the outfits you guys have created.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Honey Douce 001 €8.20

I am heading to Portugal next Thursday on holidays. So I needed to pick up a few bits and pieces. I tend to buy cheap clothes for holidays as I only get to wear them whilst on holidays because of Ireland's cold climate and also they can get ruined with sun cream. I am only taking hand luggage with me so I have a 10kg limit. I have to admit I am struggling with this.

I also picked up white shorts from Topshop I already own a pair of these but they are in size 6 which currently looks a bit vulgar on me as I am poured into them so I decided to get another pair in a size 8. I wasn't able to photograph them yet as they are still in transit. I have had the size 6 pair for years and they still look brand new so I didn't mind purchasing another pair.

July Wish List

July Wish List

 Korres Lip Butter
I just want to try this. I have read so many reviews claiming its amazing and it looks beautiful. I am a sucker for lip products.

 Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
This is my ultimate holy grail foundation. I adore it but I currently cannot justify it as if you have seen my recent Foundation Shade Guide I have way too many to use up. It gives you the most beautiful flawless finish and feels weightless on the skin.

 Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy
I have used two bottles of this already but have not had it for a couple of months. Recently smelt it in Boots and fell in love again. I am off on holidays next week and this might be a duty free purchase.

 Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch
Im being greedy wanting this watch as I already have a white Michael Kors watch but I would like this one to change up my accessories.

Tiffany's Elsa Peretti Diamond By The Yard Pendant
It is my birthday this month and I am hoping for this necklace. I originally seen it on Laura's blog Buy Now Blog Later and fell in love with it. It is a elegant piece that you could wear on a daily basis and have it for years.

Black Dress
I have no go-to little black dress and I feel every girl should have one in their wardrobe. I am in the market for one for my graduation in November. I was browsing the net last night and seen that Asos have some gorgeous dresses. The one in the picture is from Jane Norman.

 River Island High Tops
I really want these but don't know how much wear I would actually get out of them. I think they would be so cute with a pair of skinnies for casual days.

 J Crew Pixie Pants
Basically I have seen these all over You Tube and want to see what all the fuss is about. They can be dressed up or down which is handy. J Crew are currently offering free international shipping so I am very tempted. Have any of you guys tried them? Are they worth the money and how did you find the sizing?

 Coral Pants
It doesn't matter what brand I would just like some coral or pink skinnies for the summer months.

Recently I have thrown out my Ugg boots. I had loved them to death and they had seen better days. They are so handy for college in the winter months so I would love another pair.

 Modula London Pippa Grab Bag
I don't think I need to explain myself here. I need this bag in my life!

Foundation Shade Guide

As most of you know I am from a small town in Ireland which does not have a department store so I have to rely heavily on purchasing products online. This can be a nightmare when purchasing foundations. For this reason I decided to compile a list of what shades I am in each foundation so hopefully you guys will be able to use it as a reference if you are in the same predicament as me. Or even if you are looking in the drugstore and find it a little daunting as to which shade is closest to your skin tone this may help as a starting point.

Mac Face and Body N3
Mac Hyper Real NW20
Chanel Vitalumiere 40 Beige (This is too dark I need one shade lighter)
Nars Sheer Glow Santa Fe Medium 2
YSL Teint Resist Shade 5

Estee Lauder Double Wear Desert Beige 12
Revlon Photoready 004 Nude
Revlon ColorStay 180 Sand Beige
Rimmel Wake Me Up True Ivory

Clinique Super Balanced 07 Neutral
Shiseido Cream I 40
Max Factor Miracle Touch Warm Almond 45

Also feel free to leave some of your favourite foundations and shade references in the comments. I will endeavor to include all the relevant links in this blog post. If you would like me to review any of the above foundations just leave me a comment.

June Favourites

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine "Boy"
This month my beauty favourites are pretty much the exact same as last month hence why this Chanel Lipstick is the only beauty item to feature this month. I found this little beauty in the bottom of my handbag and had forgotten how much I love it. This shade is exactly my lips but better!

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Mist
This is kind of a cheat item as I only purchased it at the end of June. But I am obsessed with it. It is a lovely summery fragrance. I have being wearing it everyday since I bought it.

Now that I am on summer holidays I have been thoroughly enjoying reading my Kindle. At the moment I am about one chapter short of finishing Fifty Shades Of Grey. I am enjoying the story but it is definitely scandalous.

I have been catching up on loads of movies this month now that I have more free time. I really enjoy watching movies and considering I work part time in a video shop I should make more of an effort to watch more so I can give customers good recommendations.

Gel Nails
As a treat for completing my degree this month I decided to take the plunge and re-apply my gel nails. I use to get these done religiously for about 3 years but last year decided it was getting pricey and I was finding as I had not given my nails a break they were constantly breaking. Oh how I missed them. I adore having them on. I am aware they do damage to your nail but I never have good nails anyway and I love having a simple french manicure that always looks well.

Unfortunately lately I have gotten a few of them awful underground spot that tend to take well over a week to heal and dissipate. I have been applying Iodine on them with a cotton bud. Iodine is a disinfectant and it draws the badness out. I find it does the trick on my craters. It is also very cheap and the bottle lasts forever.
