NOTD: Shellac Tinsel Toast

I recently got my nails done for my graduation and decided to opt for this gold glitter as my dress was cream, my robes black and all my accessories were gold. It added a nice bit of sparkle to a simple outfit. You can see my graduation dress here

I thought I would post it a NOTD incase anyone was looking for a swatch of Shellac's Tinsel Toast. I love this colour and it is perfect for the festive season. I am also finding the glitter polish much more durable than the regular Shellac, as usually I find it peals off my nails but this one isn't budging.

What are your favourite colours for the Christmas season? Mine is definitely anything with glitter.

Vanished from the Blogosphere

The question is where do I start? I cannot believe it has been over a month since I posted on Sparkle In Sequins. Life has simply been too hectic for me to manage taking photos and writing accompanying blog posts. I also find that when I put off writing posts the harder I find getting back into the swing of it.

So lets begin, the main reason all my time has been obliterated is because on the 4th of November I started my new job. This is the job I have spent the last five years in college training for. Just to give you a slight bit of background. I am training to become a chartered accountant. So far during my college career I have completed 9 out of the 12 exams required but, in order to become fully qualified I need to complete a three year training contract in an accounting practice. In my second year of work I will complete my final four exams and finally after all that hardship hopefully I will be a fully qualified chartered accountant.

I am throughly enjoying my new job but it has taken me a good while to settle in. Just getting use to a 40 hour working week has been a struggle. I find I am exhausted in the evenings. However it is an amazing feeling to come home from work and actually feel I am finished for the day. In college I always had an assignment hanging over me.

I finally feel I am growing accustomed to the city lifestyle and becoming somewhat familiar with things in work. Another amazing aspect of working which I forget on a regular basis is that you get PAID! Therefore I have done a little bit of damage on the shopping front lately. No doubt there will be haul posts coming up.

Another major event in my life happened last friday. I am sure you have figured it out from the above photographs. I graduated from my Master of Accounting. God I never thought I would see the day. I didn't realise the amount of preparing and organising was required for just one day! Between finding a dress and arranging hair, nail and tan appointments it was bedlam! However after all the mayhem and racing around I had a lovely day which I will remember for the rest of my life.

Finally I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you for sticking around and supporting me throughout my hiatus. I plan to get back into the swing of things now as I have really missed the blogging environment. I hope to do a post on work OOTD's shortly as before I started my job I hadn't a notion what I was going wear on a daily basis. Would that be of interest to any of you?

Wrappz Phone Case

About two weeks ago I was contacted by Wrappz offering me the opportunity to try out one of their phone cases. I was absolutely trilled for two reasons the first one being that I have always wanted a personalised phone case and the second one being that I had recently dropped my current phone case and dented it. So this opportunity could not have come at a better time.

I was in awe at how user friendly their website is. You simply choose your model of phone and a mock case appears and then you can upload as many photos as you wish and see what they look like on the case. My biggest dilemma was trying to decided which photo to choose as so many of my photos looked amazing on the case. At first I was tempted to make a collage of all different photos but decided against that as I wanted a stand out picture. Of course all the photos I was choosing from were all my puppy Coco. In the end I went for my all time favourite picture of her.

I received my phone case within the week which is incredible considering it is totally personalised. I am so impressed with the quality. It is a lovely smooth surface that makes it very easy to slide in and out of your pocket. The only negative is that at the front the case comes up ever so slightly too high so it is not completely flush with the front of my phone but I can get over this. I am so delighted with my case as it makes me feel like I have a totally new phone. The case turned out identical to how it looked on the website.

I am so over the moon with this product/service that I am also going to purchase one for my friend for her Christmas present. She has just got a new cat "Joey" so I know she would adore a case with him on it. I think I may be bold and when I purchase one for her and I might opt for a collage one for myself. Sure it would be rude not to!

What are your feelings about personalised phone cases? Do you like them? I love that they give you an opportunity to display some lovely photos you have and honestly I smile every time I see my cute little pup on my phone.

Empties: Vol 6

Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Gel Oil
I have a love/hate relationship with this Vaseline body oil. It is amazing stuff in so far as it does wonders for my skin and I love the smell of it but the downside is that it is so messy! It takes ages to absorb into the skin and gets all over your clothes and bed clothes. For this reason I will not repurchase it as every time I apply it I am super conscious I am going to ruin some item of clothing.

Dove Original Deodorant
This product features regularly in my empties. It is my favourite deodorant and as previously mentioned I always purchase it when I see it on offer.

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Shower Gel
I decided to purchase this after I used it when I was staying in a friends house. I love the fresh tingly feeling it leaves on your skin. The only negative aspect of this product for me is the fact I usually shower at night time so I enjoy a nice relaxing scent before bed. I am going to see if this brand has other fragrances such as lavender. This is a real love it or hate it product because my mum used it and absolutely hated it.

Revlon Equave 2 Phase Leave in Conditioner
I bought this ages ago from my hairdressers. I used it religiously to begin with but like most things my usage of it dwindled after a while. Lately I have been making an effort to finish products that I have had lying around for ages this has been one of said products. I also am trying to take better care of my hair so it has encouraged me to use leave in conditioners and heat protectant. I honestly have no idea if this has had any effect on my hair. I am lucky enough not to suffer with knots in my hair after washing it but I think it would work well as a detangler.

Chanel Coco Rouge Shine - Boy
Featuring this lipstick in an empties post is slightly heartbreaking.  I have literally loved it to death! It is my favourite lipstick ever. When I have some extra cash this is the first item I will repurchase.

Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil Black
I am embarrassed to tell you how long I have had this eye pencil. I use it daily in my water line and it has lasted forever! It is super black and is very long lasting on the water line. I think I will manage one more use out of it but it is truly fit for the bin.

What products have you been using up lately?

NOTD: Maybelline Forever Strong Ceramic Blue

I think these Maybelline Forever Strong Nail Varnishes are my all time favourite nail polishes. I have four colours from this collection and love every one of them. The formula is fantastic and it is a dream to apply. I think this is due to the brush. It is a lovely square brush that makes application very easy even for messers like myself. The polish is also long lasting. I am very rough on my nails and my nail varnish tends to chip almost instantly but this lasts for a solid three days on my nails. I am hoping to pick up some nail art tools on eBay soon as I would have loved to paint little white anchor on one nail in order to add a little extra to this NOTD.

What is your favourite nail polish brand?

Let's Go To The Beach Each Let's Go Get A Wave

This week I decided I would love to take OOTD's pictures at my local beach as you can see from the above sunset picture the scenery is spectacular. Well, all didn't go according to plan. I had grand illusions of OOTD pictures with the sunset in the background but I never actually thought about the logistics of this setting. Basically it didn't work all my pictures were silhouetted and you couldn't see my outfit at all. Kind of defeats the purpose of OOTD pictures. I ended up having to take my pictures on the not so spectacular walkway. Ah you live and learn.

Next on to my outfit, I have to be honest I am not mad about this OOTD. I was pretty restricted in what to wear as I was going to the beach. For example I had to dress super warm as it was freezing and it also meant heels were a no go. I would have much rather this dress paired with heeled black booties. I also struggled to pair a cardigan with this dress. What colour/style would you go for? You can't see it in this pictures as it was way too chilly for me to remove my jacket but I am wearing black cardigan but I dislike the style of it with the dress I feel it overtakes the dress.

What are you wearing this autumn? Personally I feel I am stuck in a clothes rut!

What's On My Face

I have been shopping my stash recently and have come across some products that I love but had totally forgotten about. This look is my normal day to day makeup. I just used some of my forgotten products instead of my regulars. These products were my foundation, blush, eyeshadow and lipstick.

First I applied my Boujois bronzing primer. I need to apply this under my Max Factor Miracle Touch foundation as the foundation applied alone can make me look drained and ashy. I applied the foundation with my Real Technique expert face brush. I adore this brush for applying any foundation as it gives a beautiful flawless finish. Unfortunately today I had a spot on my chin so I had to whip out my trusty Collection 2000 concealer.

I popped Mac Blush in Sunbasque on my cheeks and some of the Bourjois bronzing primer as a contour. I don't particularly like using the Bourjois primer as a contour as it has a slight orange tinge. Using my Mac 182 dusted Benefit's Hoola bronzer down my neck and chest to give me a nice glow.

On my eyes I opted for a simple look. I applied Mac Bronze in the crease, Mac Eye Kohl in the colour Feline in the water line and popped on my usual Dior mascara primer and 17 mascara on my lashes. On my eyebrows I used Rimmel eyebrow pencil in 001 dark brown to fill in any gaps and I used the brush on the product to run through my brows.

Finally on my lips I applied Mac's Patisserie. This is one of the products I have recently rediscovered. It is a really subtle lip colour. I love the formula and glossy finish it leaves. I don't know why I had forgotten about it as you can see in the above picture it was a firm favourite for a long time.

Have you rediscovered any of your older products?

NOTD: Barry M Lychee

I bought this Barry M shade when there was loads of hype surrounding it but I only wore it once as I didn't feel it suited my skin tone. I pulled it out yesterday and decided to pair it with another colour in order to liven it up. I choose this Gosh loose gold glitter. I love this combination and will definitely wear it again. However, instead of using the Gosh glitter I would opt for a normal gold glitter polish. The Gosh glitter is extremely messy and ends up everywhere. You can see in the above picture I have managed to get it on all my nails. It is also very difficult to apply an even coat of glitter on the nail as its gets very clumpy.

What nail colours have you been reaching for lately?

I Need To Learn Self Restraint

I don't know what is wrong with me lately. I can not go into town without purchasing something! My new tacit is to avoid town at all costs until I save some money. Anyway above are my most recent indiscretions. I seen this beautiful bag in TK Maxx and was debating whether to buy it because realistically I do not need another handbag. I decided to have a think about it whilst I wandered around town. When I came back I couldn't see the bag anywhere and I was heartbroken. Thankfully someone had just moved it. Of course this meant I had to buy the bag immediately.

Next up are these cute River Island boots. When I was walking past River Island I noticed they had a poster stating they were currently offering 20% student discount. This prompted me to have a look inside. They have some absolutely beautiful clothes at the moment. I fell in love with these boots and another positive about them is that they are so comfortable. Now, this is where I need your help. As much as I adore these boots I am totally struggling deciding what to actually wear them with. Everything I pair them with doesn't look quiet right. I don't know is it just that they don't suit me or am I styling them wrong. What would you pair these boot with?

My mum was in Primark the other day and commented that they had some beautiful work clothes so I decided to pop in and have a look. They have some gorgeous pieces. I picked up this fuchsia skater dress and this white blazer. Both pieces are a beautiful fit. I bought them both with work in mind but I am considering wearing the skater dress to my graduation and the white blazer looks fabulous paired with black skinny jeans.

September Favourites

Real Techniques Blush Brush
Funnily enough I've never had a dedicated blush brush in my collection until I purchased this beauty. I always used my Mac 109 or an angled contour brush to apply my blush. Well I have been missing out. This brush is amazing. With one gentle sweep it leaves the right amount of product on your cheeks. Real Technique brushes have definitely been my most recent addiction.

Mac Shimmer Blush Sunbasque
Recently I have finished my all time favourite blush "Mac creme blush in the shade lillicent". Unfortunately it has since being discontinued. As a result of this I have been searching high and low for a dupe and also reaching for my other peach blushes in my collection. This month I have been reaching for this Mac blush in the colour Sunbasque. I bought it a couple of years ago from a holiday collection and never used it that much. I honestly don't know why as it leaves you with a beautiful natural healthy glow. On a side note the highlighter in this palette is rubbish.

Max Factor Miracle Touch
I don't know what possessed me recently to reach for this foundation in my collection as I usually gravitate towards liquid foundations. When I started using it again I completely forgot how much I love it. It is a compact foundation that applies like a liquid. This is fantastic on my dry skin. I love having a compact foundation as it is so much easier to touch up during the day.

Kiko Lipgloss
I have been going a little heavier on my eyeshadow than normal, opting for brown smokey eyes so I have been wearing a light lip as the attention is on my eyes. This is one of my all time favourite glosses. I have a review on this gloss here.

Kiko & Barry M Nail Varnishes
I have been enjoying painting my nails dark colours again for the Autumn. I have to admit I am slightly sick of the neons and baby pinks. I am loving this pink and grey combo at the moment. I paint all my nails using the grey and have a leopard print design on one nail using the pink. Having said all that I am still sporting the pink alone on my toes.

John Frieda Full Repair
Recently I took the plunge and went to get my hair chopped. I really did not want to cut it as I loved the length but I had what my hairdresser calls "fake length" because my ends were all damaged and split. It did not look pretty. I ended up having to sacrifice 5inches! This was mainly caused because it had been 9 months since I last cut my hair. I really miss my length, now don't get me wrong my hair is still super long most people would not even realise I have gotten it cut but I am finding it is not sitting the way I like it. For the month of September I have made a conscious effort to take better care of my hair. This is why the heat protectant features. To be honest I am not sure how effective it is yet but it doesn't leave any nasty residue and I love the smell of it.

Inglot Eye Shadows Shade Pearl 402 and Pearl 423
I love Inglot eye shadows. I find them very comparable to Mac. They are also very good value. I tend to buy my friends the freedom palette on their birthdays or for different occasions as you get three amazing eye shadows for approx 24. I have been loving these two shades recently. They are darker colours than I normally wear but the deep purple looks fantastic on green eyes. It really makes them stand out. I apply the lighter shade Pearl 402 all over my eyes and apply the deep shade Pearl 423 to my crease.

Bourjois Bronzing Primer
I love using this with my Miracle touch foundation as the foundation is slightly too pale for my skin tone. In order to combat this I apply this bronzing primer as a base underneath the foundation. It leaves me with a lovely healthy glow. I have a detailed review on it here.

What are your September stand out products?

My Essential Makeup Brushes

A couple of times during various Blogger twitter chats I have been asked about my favourite brushes. I decided to compile a list of my everyday essentials. Unfortunately the majority of my most reached for brushes are Mac. I am aware these are very expensive so the alternative I would suggest is Sigma. I own the Sigma Essential Kit and to be honest I don't find much difference between them and my Mac brushes. I have had them both years and they both stand up to the test of time.
I am by no means a brush snob. I don't care what the brand is as long as the quality is good. My favourite brushes at the moment have to be the Real Techniques brushes. The quality is amazing and they are very affordable. I am going to go through my collection from left to right.

Mac 150 Large Powder Brush
I use this brush for applying setting powder all over my face and also for applying bronzer down my neck to ensure I have no foundation lines. This is the only brush that I rather my Mac one to my Sigma brush. As I find the Sigma equivalent is slight scratchy.

Mac 168 Large Angled  Contour Brush
I love this brush for applying my contour. It is the perfect shape for applying contour to the hollows of your cheeks. I also use it for applying my cream blushes. It works very well with all my cream products. The only aspect I dislike about this brush is the fact it discolours over time. No matter how much I wash this brush I can not remove the yellow tinge.

Mac 109 Small Contour Brush
Since taking this picture I have purchase a new brush that has replaced my 109. I bought the Real Techniques Blush Brush. It is fantastic and much better than the 109. For years I have used the 109 to apply my blush. I find that out of all my Mac brushes this one is the only one that sheds constantly. It is also the only Mac brush from the above collection I would not recommend.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush
I have only recently purchased this brush but it has fast become a staple in my make up routine. I use this to apply my foundation whether it be a compact or a liquid foundation. It is perfect. Before purchasing this brush I was using the Real Techniques Buffing brush to apply my foundation. I like them both but rather the dense consistency of the expert face brush.

Mac 222 Blending Brush
I think they have since discontinued this brush. I swap between this and my 217. I rather the 217 but when it needs a wash this does the trick.

Mac 217 Blending Brush
I use this brush for applying my crease colour. I love this brush as it applies the right amount of product but also is a fantastic blending brush. I use this daily and have yet to find a brush comparable. This is the only brush that I don't have a similar one in my Sigma collection.

Mac 224 Tapered Blending Brush
If I was to recommend any brush from Mac this would be the one. It is my all time favourite. It is great for creating a smokey eye. After I apply my crease colour with my 217 I use my clean 224 to blend out the colour so I have no harsh lines. I find this brush always pulls my eyeshadow look together.

Eco Tools Bamboo Eye Shadow Brush
The only Mac brushes I don't like are their flat shader brushes used for applying eyeshadow. I find them very stiff. I have owned this Eco tools one for years and reach for it daily to apply my base colour.

Mac 208 Angled Brow Brush
I would love to purchase this brush in the full size as the little brushes drive me mad. I can never locate it in my brush container. This brush is from a holiday collection. I use it on my brows to brush through them and also to apply eyeshadow to fill out my brows when needed.

Mac 182 Buffer Brush
I have only recently rediscovered this brush. I mainly keep it in my handbag and use it for touch ups. I have now been using it to dust bronzer down my neck. I find it applies the perfect amount of product and is one of the softest brushes I own.

What are your brush essentials?

My Life Through A Lense

I thought I would make a little collage of what I have been up to lately. Some of these pictures have already featured on my blog and some are new. I love doing these posts as when I look back on them they bring back good memories. I plan to do the Fat Mum Slim photo a day challenge for the month of October. I am forever attempting these challenges and never end up finishing them. Hopefully this month will be different. Are any of you girls planning on doing it? I am hoping to do a post like this once a month on my blog so please let me know if you like these posts.

I went out for a walk on the beach this week with one of my good friend. My mum suggested we go to the local beach as the sunsets lately have been spectacular. Well she wasn't wrong. As you can see from the 6th picture. It was stunning. On the same evening I took the first picture in the collage of my dog Coco covered in sand. She spent the entire time chasing stones on the beach.

The other day when I was in town running some errands and trying my hardest not to spend any money. I passed River Island and I noticed they had 20% off student promotion on. Well it would have been daft not to have a peak in. I ended up purchasing these cute tan boots.

Since finishing college I have a lot more free time so I have been catching up on movies.I recently watched Mud which I thought was OK. But before that I watched Olympus has fallen which I thoroughly enjoyed. Next on my list to watch is Silver Linings Playbook.

Recently I was featured in our national newspaper. It was just a small story highlighting my journey from my undergrad degree to my masters. It was a fun experience and I was honoured to be chosen.

Yet again my pup features. She is just so photogenic. I brought her out to the local woods for a walk and I wanted to get a picture that depicted Autumn for my most recent Autumn tag. Finally with my spare time I have been doing some baking. I made apple turnovers using a Laura Vitale recipe. They were a success so much so my Dad requested I make more during the week.

If you would like to see more photos like this please follow me on Instagram @sparkleinsequins
Also feel free to leave me your Instagram usernames in the comments. I would love follow some of you.

The Autumn Tag

Favourite thing about Autumn?
I adore cosy Autumn evenings. When the weather is miserable outside and you are tucked up under a blanket all cosy in front of the fire. That is heaven to me. I also love going for walks in Autumn as everywhere looks beautiful. I took this picture in a woodlands close to my house. It is picturesque this time of year.

Favourite Drink?
Most definitely tea. I am addicted to it and it is a vice that I could never give up. I could easily sacrifice chocolate and chips but not tea. I find nothing relaxes me more than sitting down with a hot cup of tea.

Favourite Scent/Candle?
My favourite candle scents are vanilla and the Yankee candle cranberry and mandarin scent. I burn these throughout the year. I don't have a particular autumn favourite. However, I do love when my mum burns cinnamon as it reminds that Christmas is imminent.

Best Lipstick?
This answer is kind of cheating as I consider the best lipstick to be Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in the shade Boy. You could say this is an Autumn shade but I wear it constantly. It is a "my lips but better" colour and has a beautiful formula.

Go-to moisturiser?
Body or face moisturiser? For body I would definitely say Soap and Glory Daily Smooth. This is super rich which is perfect for the cold weather. For my face I am currently using my regular Oilatum face cream but am on the hunt for a new moisturiser.

Go-to colour for the eyes?
I think I would have to choose golds and browns. As these are pretty autumnal colours. Pretty much any shade from the Urban Decay naked palette.

Favourite music to listen to?
This is a difficult question for me as I am totally uncool when it comes to music. I usually only listen to music when I am in the car. I generally like the most recent stuff on the radio. At the moment I love Miley Cyrus's song Wreaking Ball although the video is a whole different story. I am also enjoying Macklemore Same Love.

Favourite outfits to wear?
Umm this is a difficult one. I am currently stuck in a rut with my clothes. I never know what to wear and I feel like I have hardly any clothes which is not the case. I suppose I would pick a skater dress with booties or failing that skinny jeans and loose fit jumper.

Autumn treat?
This would have to be Nutella hot chocolate. There is something comforting about drinking hot chocolate on cold days and you cant forget the marshmallows on top. Yum!

Favourite place to be?
My favourite place to be would have to be snuggled up in my bedroom at home. I am a real home body and much rather having a night in with a movie than going out on the town.

Current Wants & Needs

Current Wish List

Emma Hardie Amazing Cleansing Balm
I have raved countless times about Caroline Hirons blog. She has transformed my skincare routine. All the products I have bought based upon her recommendations I have adored. This cleansing balm is the next on my list of things to buy after reading loads of positive reviews.

Zara Parka
When I was in Zara the other day I spotted this beauty of a coat. It is fabulous. The entire inside is lined with this fluffy material that makes it super soft and cosy. Unfortunately this jacket is €130. I can't justify purchasing this as I simply wouldn't get the wear out of it and with the leather sleeves it might go out of fashion in years to come. A girl can still wish tho.

Aldo Abina Trainers
I have a love hate relationship with these wedge type trainers. When I see them on other girls I adore the overall look, but every time I look at them in store I think they are so unattractive. I spotted this pair in Aldo that I am extremely tempted by but I am unsure would I actually wear them? I have just notice they are currently reduced to £56. Now I am even more tempted!

Ren Glycolactic Peel Mask
This is yet another beauty product I am lusting after having read so many amazing reviews online. I have a couple of masks I need to finish before I even think about splurging on this.

Whistles Medium Leather Clutch
I have spotted this purse on a lot of bloggers "what's in my bag" posts and think it is a beautiful little bag. You can wear it as a clutch or simply pop it in your handbag to store bit and pieces. An essential for me.

Beauty Advent Calender
I seen these featured on numerous blogs last year but by the time I got around to purchasing one they were all sold out. This year I am going to be on the ball and purchase one as soon as I see them on sale. I think they are a lovely novelty for the Christmas and it gives you an opportunity to test products that you may usually over look.

Origins GinZing Moisturisers
As I mentioned before I have recently changed my skincare routine. Although I have yet to change my moisturiser. I am currently using Oilatum which I find great but one of its main ingredients is mineral oil, which is notorious for causing blackheads. For this reason I would like to branch out and try a new moisturiser. I love all the Orgins products that I have tried so I would like to try one of their moisturisers.

Love Listography
I am a true nerd and get joy out of making lists and ticking items off as I complete them. So this little notebook is right up my street. I think I will wait until after Christmas to pick this up as usually this type of stuff is always in the Urban Outfitters sale.

What's on your wish list this Autumn?

Review: Bourjois Bronzing Primer

A couple of months ago I spotted this bronzing primer in Boots and thought what the hell are you meant to do with that? After consulting google and finding an abundance of reviews. I decided I needed said product ASAP. I had great intentions of reviewing it whilst it was considered a new product. Well, that didn't happen.

Recently I finished college and I don't start my new job until November so I have plenty of time in the morning to faff with my make-up. Since doing this I have come across a couple of products that have fallen under my radar. Bourjois Bronzing Primer is a prime example.

When I first bought this product I couldn't wait to try it out. I used it as contour and as a primer under my foundation for approximately 1 week then I drifted away from it and reached for my trusty Soliel Tan de Chanel instead. I just found it didn't do much. It also came across slightly orange on my skin when used as a contour if you applied too much but it wasn't very noticeable otherwise. The one thing I  do love about this product is the smell. It smells beautiful.

Lately, whilst I have being experimenting I also rediscovered my lovely Max Factor Miracle Touch foundation. I found that when I apply it I tend to look lifeless as it takes all the natural colour out of my face. I find myself reaching for blush instantly. I decided to try the Bourjois primer under this foundation to see what effect it would have and low and behold it transforms the foundation. I would definitely recommend this primer if you have any foundations that need a lift, but other than that I don't have much use for it.

All in all I would not repurchase this product but I will use the rest of it. Have you tried Bourjois Bronzing Primer? What are your thoughts?

Winter Shopping Splurge

Last week I went to Dublin in search for some winter essentials. On the top of my list was a winter coat and black court shoes for work. When I was in Zara I spotted this coat and thought to myself oh that looks like what I am looking for. When I tried it on I fell in love. It is the perfect fit and just hits above my knee. It was €69.95 which I feel is good value as it appears to be very good quality.

My mum was adamant I buy decent shoes for work claiming "you are either in your bed or in your shoes so you need to get good shoes". I spotted these in Aldo for €90.00. It kind of killed me to spend €90.00 on shoes that aren't even pretty but they are real leather and cushioned inside but, they look smart on and elongate my legs.

Next up Primark, I was actually in the dressing room and spotted a girl trying on the above coat and thought it looked cute so I decided to pick it up. It was only €35.00. It is super snugly and the perfect smart/casual piece for the weekends. I also purchased the tea mug, slipper socks and exfoliating foot mask in Primark. I have read rave review about the foot mask so I am excited to try them out. No doubt I will feature a review on them in the future.

The next thing on my list was a new pair of Hollister jeans. I live in these and my old pair were starting to lose their shape so I decided it was time to buy a new pair. It helped that Hollister currently has 20% off jeans so they only cost me €48.00.

Finally when I was browsing through New Look I spotted this pretty skater dress and necklace. I love the colour of the skater dress. These are one of my favourite style of dresses as you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion. I couldn't help but pick up two new Real Technique brushes as in Boots at the minute it is buy one get one half price across all beauty ranges. A spending ban has now officially started for me.

Have you splurged on any winter essentials?

Empties Post: Vol 5

I better warn you before you start reading this post that it may come across slightly negative. You see, I recently did a major clear out of my beauty products and made a conscious effort to use up products that I had for way too long. The reason I had accumulated these products was that I never felt the need to reach for them as they were never my favourites. I had to be pretty inventive using up these products, as some of them didn't actually suit my facial needs and I had them too long to give them away.

Mac Cleansing Wipes
I am embarrassed to tell you how long ago I purchased these face wipes. I bloody hate them. They leave my face tingly and don't even remove half my make-up. I don't even reach for them when I need a quick fix. I managed to use these up by using them as cleaning wipes. That sums up what I think of them in a nutshell.

Espa Pink And Scalp Mud
This is a product I actually enjoyed using but don't think I would repurchase it. It is a hair and scalp mask that treats both your hair and scalp. I had heard rave reviews that it is fantastic for treating a dry flakey scalp. During times of stress I find that my scalp gets dry and in order to combat this I decided to purchased it. I didn't notice any wonderful benefits from it but it is a lovely luxury product and you feel like you are treating yourself when you use it.

The Body Shop Coconut Milk Body Lotion
I love The Body Shop's moisturisers and regularly purchase the body butters. I adore the scent of coconut, it reminds me of holidays. Unfortunately The Body Shop don't make a body butter in coconut so I decided to try out the lotion. I really don't get on with this and it took me forever to finish the bottle. The spray bottle is a pain in the neck as when you are applying the lotion your hands get slippy so it is a constant struggle to use the spray. Next, the lotion has nothing on the body butters. It is a super runny lotion and I didn't feel it moisturised my skin at all.

Bath and Body Works Sweet Pea Body Lotion
I received this in a swap a while ago and was delighted as I have never tried any Bath and Body Works products. The scent of this is beautiful and it lingers on the skin for ages. I am not convinced that it does a great job moisturising but I did enjoying using it because of the scent.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Body Butter
This is one of my all time favourites! I adore this stuff and it appears quite regularly in my empties as I fly through it. I have a review on The Daily Smooth Body Butter here, and to be honest I can't really tell the difference between them. The Daily Smooth may be slightly richer in texture but they are both amazing.

Oilatum Lotion
I suffer from very dry skin and I decided to try this out as I like the Oilatum body cream. The lotion is grand and does the job that it claims to do but I much prefer the richness of a cream. I personally don't find lotion as effective.

Cinique Super Defense
I received this for Christmas over a year ago as I wanted to try out a few products in the Clinque range. Unfortunately Clinque does not agree with my skin. I think my skin is to sensitive for the harshness of the Clinque 3 step system. I found that it irritated my skin and left it red. I finished this by using it as body moisturiser as I didn't want to put it on my face.

Oilatum Face Cream
I use this cream as my daily moisturiser and have been for years so this is definitely a product I would repurchase. However, I have recently changed up my skincare routine and I am currently on the market for a new moisturiser without mineral oil. Do you have any suggestions? I have dry skin so would like a rich moisturiser.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation True Ivory
Now this is a product that I love and it features regularly in my empties as I have finished yet another bottle. I seem to fly through this foundation. I don't know is it that I am a little heavy handed with it or what but I can't complain it is fairly cheap and a fantastic product. I have a review on it here.

Have you finished any products this month? Were they good or bad?

Updated: What's In My Bag

It has been over a year since I wrote a What's in my bag post so I thought, no time like the present to write an updated version. The main thing that has changed is the handbag itself. I received this navy Longchamps bag for Christmas and I have been using it nearly everyday since. This is very unusual for me as I regularly swap my handbags depending on what I am wearing. The Longchamps bags are fantastic as they are huge and you can carry around half the house with you. It has being my saviour throughout my college year as I had an abundance of folders and books to cart around.

Anyway, onto the contents, we have the usual suspects, phone, car keys, deodorant and headphones. When I was in college I always had my iPad in my bag as I would use it regularly for my college work. Now that I am finished college I either tote around my iPad or my kindle so I have something to read incase I get held up somewhere. I am an avid list maker. I find it much easier to organise myself when I write everything down so for that reason you will always find a notebook and a biro in my bag. The current pink dragonfly notebook I am using is from WHSmith.

My wallet is from Michael Kors. I received it for my birthday this year and I love it. You know sometimes with wallets you actually have to put them to the test to see whether they are suitable or not. I have purchased purses in the past and my cards don't fit in snugly or they won't close when you have more than €4 coin in them. Well, this one is perfect, there is loads of room for all your cards and two slots for notes and even a separate coin purse that you can slide out if you don't want to take the entire wallet with you.

I also carry two little make up bags. The cream one with the bow is from Primark and I use it to carry my make up. I usually pop the make up I have applied that morning into it and then I can touch up during the day. The next make up bag is a little SOS bag. I rarely leave the house without this bag. It contains, painkillers, girly essentials, a mini toothbrush/toothpaste, mascara, hair ties and deodorant. I can do a separate post on this to show you everything if you would like to create your own.

Finally I just have some bits and bobs such as a USB key and two lips glosses, usually there is more than two floating around.

Are you a fan of large handbags or do you like to stick to small bags to prevent you carrying around so much unnecessary stuff?
