17 Blow Out Mascara

I bought this in Boots recently but in actual fact I meant to pick up the Collection 2000 Big Fake mascara after seeing Fleur De Force recommending it. I will be the first to admit I am a mascara snob. I adore YSL Faux Cils and have yet to find a mascara that is comparable. YSL is currently out of my price range so I have been trying an abundance of new mascaras in search of a dupe.

Unfortunately this 17 Blow Out Mascara is a total let down. I honestly hate it and will find it difficult to finish the tube. And doesnt the brush look so promising? It just leaves my lashes spindly rather than giving them any volume or lenght. Even when used with my Dior mascara primer it looks rubbish. The Dior mascara primer is usually amazing when used in conjunction with drug store mascaras. My lashes just appear lack lustre with it on, not what you want from a mascara. For some reason I find this mascara very messy to use. I don't know why but it always ends up on my eyelids maybe it is due to the wet consistency as I have never had this problem with a mascara. Anyway I will not be repurchasing this particular mascara, however I also purchased 17 Va Va Voom mascara on the same day and I am loving it. I will post a review and pictures of it on my lashes soon.

What is your favourite mascara?

Empties Post: Vol 4

Remember I did a huge clear out on my room when I was redecorating? Well, I found so many products nearly finished so I made it my mission this month to finish everything that was nearly empty. I actually have around 20 empties altogether with more to come, shameful I know! I decided to separate them into two posts to prevent this becoming long winded. I have banned myself buying anymore products until all my half empty products are used up.

Nivea Face Wipes
I use these for emergencies only i.e. when I am too lazy to cleanse my face at night time. Instead of going to bed with a full face of make up. I figure it is better than nothing. I don't rely on them so much anymore because if I am that lazy I can just use my La Roche Posay Solution Micelaire on a cotton pad and wipe off my make up. I don't like using these on a regular basis as I find them quite drying but they are at times an essential and I always have a pack around just in case. Recently I had no cotton wool so had to whip one of these out.

Alberto Balsam Green Apple Shampoo
I am a huge advocate of you get what you pay for when it comes to shampoo and conditioner. I swear by Kerastase and I feel it makes a massive difference to my unruly hair. The only problem I have, is when I wash my hair twice with the Kerastase Bain Satin 2 shampoo I feel it gets greasy much faster. In order to combat this I use Alberto Balsam Green Apple shampoo for greasy hair just for my first wash and I use my Kerastase for my second shampoo.

Lush Eau Roma Water
This used to be a firm favourite of mine but since I discovered La Roche Posay Solution Micelaire I haven't reached for this. I would repurchase this in the future just at the moment I am trying out some other products.

Boots Botanics Eye Make Up Remover
I rarely use eye make up remover as I generally remove it with whatever cleanser I am using up. I found this one nice and it didn't irate my eyes unlike the Johnson's one I am currently using. It is making my eyes watery. I wouldn't repurchase this but it is solely because I don't tend to use eye make up remover during my cleansing routine.

Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum
This is a holy grail item for me! Review here. Thankfully I was gifted a new tube of this for my birthday last week. I love expensive mascara such as YLS Faux Cils but as they only last approx 3 months so it can work out pretty pricey. I find this Dior mascara primer lasts way longer than 3 months and when applied with a drugstore mascara it gives you the same effects as Faux Cils.

Bio Oil
Thankfully I don't have any stretch marks so I cant report on how effective Bio Oil is for treating them but when my skin is super dry and flakey I use Bio Oil under my moisturiser and it really helps treat the dryness.

Hawaiian Topic Tan Enhancer
I bought this on holidays about two years ago to enhance my tan and whilst doing my clear out I decided it was time to use it up. It smells lovely and feels nourishing but it does take a while to sink in and I don't think it did much to enhance my tan.

Mac Creamsheen Glass in Boy Bait
I have a few of these on there last legs and I am sad to see them finished as I love them. They leave your lips lovely and shiny and looking plump and most importantly they have no sticky residue.

Sally Hansen Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover
I bought this when I had gel nails on so I could paint them. It does the job but I do find the acetone one much better.

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water
This is crap. I don't mean to be rude but I think I was duped into buying tap water in a spray bottle. I just do not see the purpose of this product other than to cool you down on a hot day. I definitely wont be repurchasing this.

Decleor Aromessence Contour
I got this years ago when I worked with Decleor it is used in conjunction with a gel and it is meant to help minimise cellulite. I never found any difference whilst using it. However, it is lovely and moisturising but I do find it a chore having to apply two products instead of just one.

Birthday FOTD

So today I decided to wear my Nars Sheer Glow foundation. My colour is Santa Fe. I love this foundation but sometimes I feel it just sits on my skin when I first apply it. However every single time I wear this foundation I receive compliments. This makes it a winner in my eyes. Next I applied my Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel as my contour and Bourjois Creme Blush in 01 Nude Velvet on my cheeks. I must do a blog post on this blush as I’m loving it. I used Jemma Kidd All Over Radiance Creme in Rose Gold as my highlight. I bought this after I had seen it in so many You Tube videos. I was not disappointed. It has been a firm favourite of mine since I purchased it. It just gives you a beautiful glow without you looking sparkly. I dusted my face with my Inglot face powder. I cannot for the life of me, remove the pan from the pallet to reference the colour, but today I used the lighter powder in the pallet pictured.

On my eyes I used some classics, Mac All That Glitters all over the lid and a hint Sable in the crease. I lined my water line with Mac Eyeliner in the colour Feline and popped Benefit Eye Bright under my brow bone. For mascara I used my Diorshow Maximizer mascara primer, which I adore. I got a new one for my birthday today. Yay! And I used 17 Va Va Voom Mascara on top of that. Finally, I have Mac Cremesheen Glass Boy Bait on my lips. I don’t know what is wrong with me but I always forgot to include my lipgloss in my product picture. Sorry.

OOTD: Summer Evenings

Crop Top New Look
Maxi Skirt New Look
Neck Lace New Look
Sandals Primark

The last picture I thought I would add in for fun, this is the messing I get up to when taking my
OOTD pictures. I love wearing this maxi skirt as it is so cosy. When paired with the black crop top and
worn up high on my waist it can pass as a black maxi dress. I regularly wear this outfit to college. When it
gets cold I just pop a cardigan over it, tend to wear a coral or pink one to brighten it up.

Huge Next Haul - Summer Sale

Ok, so you know when you hear about the Next sale starting at 5am and you think to yourself "Who would be crazy enough to go to that?" Well I was that crazy. However, I do have a valid excuse, as most of you know I am starting a new job in November. My new job requires me to dress very formal.
I have never had a job that I have had to dress formally for so I have literally one suit in my wardrobe.
I decided it would be in my best interest to venture into the madness of the Next sale at 5am. I am happy to report it was completely worth my while. As you will see below, I picked up loads of items all for less than half price.

Because it was the sale I just picked up everything that was in my size regardless if I really liked it. My intention was to go through it all before I went to pay, but as it was so busy I was unable to do this and ended up buying everything, but I was aware I could return anything that I didn't like. This totally worked to my advantage as I ended up trying on items that I normally would not have looked at twice. These ended up being some of my favourite things I purchased. This was the case with the first two dresses pictured. The most expensive item I purchased is the navy lace dress with pattern on it. It was originally €103 and reduced to €45. Everything else was between €15 and €25. I spent approximately €300 which does seem like a lot but had I bought everything full price it would have cost €800+

Some of these items are still available on Next's online store unfortunately I can't link the items individually as they are in the sale section. Of course many of these items will still be available in stores as I only purchased them yesterday.

What dress or top do you think I should wear on my first day of work? If you have any OOTD posts on work outfits please leave your links below. I am constantly looking for inspiration.

OOTD: Under €20

We have had absolutely beautiful weather this week. This is a rarity in Ireland so I have been taking complete advantage of it, from studying outside during the day and going for nice long walks in the evenings. I had not planned to take OOTD pictures but decided why not as I was pretty proud of my cheap ensemble. I think the entire OOTD cost under €20.00. Everything I am wearing is from Primark. I picked up this dress last summer. I am sure they have the same dress in stock this year or a similar style as it is a basic piece. It cost €7.00. On the hanger it did not look like much but I tried it on I ended up loving the fit and found it super cosy. The waist cinches in so I just put a gold belt on to enhance this.
Unfortunately the sandals are also last years stock but Primark always have some pretty diamond sandals out at this time of the year. To make this outfit slightly smarter I remove the gold belt and pair it with a long pearl necklace and a cardigan that is white and had navy stripes.

What do you tend to wear on a summers day? I sometimes am at a loss as we don't get many hot day in Ireland.

Face Of The Day

I was inspired by a golden peach look Little Kiva created when applying my make up this morning. I love bronzy looks during the summer. As I wasn't up to much I toned this look down and made it pretty simple.

I started with my L'Oreal Studio Secrets primer, which I am currently enjoying I honestly think it makes my make up last longer but am not entirely sure. I think I am going have to test it and take photos with and without it to see if it makes a difference. Next I applied the usual suspect Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation review here and I popped some of Mac Melba blush on my cheeks to add a hint of peach to my look and contoured with Benefit Hoola.

On my eyes I have applied Mac All That Glitters all over the lid and Bronze in the crease. I have owned Bronze eyeshadow for absolutely ages and never worn it as I thought it was more of a going out colour rather than day time wear but once blended out it is beautiful. I have Mac eyeliner in the colour feline (black) on my water line and the mascara I am currently using is 17 Va Va Voom. I have a review coming up on this. I cannot leave the house without black eyeliner in my waterline and some mascara. Finally, on my lips I have Mac lipstick in the colour Patisserie. I don't often see this colour mentioned on blogs. As you can see from the above picture it is a firm favourite of mine. It is a my lips but better colour and pretty much matches any look as it is subtle.

Do you like reading FOTD posts? This is my first one and I would like to know if you would like to see more.

Casual OOTD

This is not a great OOTD as it was not planned. I was out for a walk with the pup "Coco" and the scenery was too beautiful not to take some photographs. This is a very casual outfit. I was only lounging around the house and walking the dog. I am wearing my Hollister skinny jeans that I live in! I must pick up another pair as these are showing the signs of being loved to death. And as it was a beautiful sunny day I paired them with my navy Toms and this casual stripy t-shirt from Primark.

Rimmel - Wake Me Up Foundation

I know I am a bit behind the times posting a review on this foundation, but whenever I mention it on my blog or twitter I always get asked questions about it. It is also one of my favourite foundations so I figured it deserved its own review. As you are properly aware foundation is one my weaknesses, the evidence is here. I have tried loads of foundations from drugstore to high end brands. Usually my preference would be towards high end foundations. I feel if you spend money on your base you can use cheaper products elsewhere. However, Rimmel Wake Me Up breaks the mould here. I think it is very comparable to Mac Studio Sculpt foundation, which is a foundation I am a major fan of. I have been using Rimmel Wake Me Up on and off for the past year. I am on my 4th bottle. And I find in many instances I reach for it over my higher end foundations.

Let's start by giving you some information about my skin type as this can mean all the difference in whether a foundation will suit you or not. My skin is very dry and on occasion has flakey patches. I enjoy products that are rich in moisture and give a dewy finish. This is one of the reasons I love Rimmel Wake Me Up. It has a gel like consistency and feels heavy when first applied to the skin but once you blend it in, this feeling dissipates. I apply it with a Real Techniques blending brush and find it is very easy to blend and very buildable. When my skin is acting up I just apply a little more and its increases the coverage. For the most part it has very good staying power sometimes if my skin is slightly oily I will have to touch up but usually it lasts all day.

My favourite thing about this product is the price point. This foundations usually retails for €10.99 but I have seen it in Primark for €7.99 on many occasions. I also tend to pick it up when Boots do buy two products and get one free. Finally for reference I wear the shade True Ivory and I am a NW20 in Mac foundations. In the above picture I am sporting said foundation.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?
